Our Beliefs

We are a Bible-believing church with an emphasis on family, teaching and fellowship.  We have roots in the  evangelical and reformed traditions, drawing from the wisdom and insights of past Christians.

SOME OF OUR KEY BELIEFS

You can also explore our sermons on various topics and passages.

GOD

God is the creator of the Universe who made all things for his glory.

God has revealed himself to exist as three persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. They are all equally divine and indivisible in their unity.

God has revealed himself in Creation, in the Bible and most clearly in the man Jesus of Nazareth.

God is loving and merciful and provides a way for us to be with him forever.

JESUS

Jesus of Nazareth is the eternal Son of God who became man.  Jesus is both fully God and fully human. He lived a perfect life of obedience to his Heavenly Father and kept all the requirements of God's law. His death on a cross was a perfect substitute for all who will believe in him. He was buried and on the third day rose again to everlasting life. He now rules in heaven and will return to earth from there one day.

SALVATION

God will one day remake the world and bring an end to all evil and all sorrow. To be part of this new creation, each of us must be saved from the consequences of our rebellion against God and our corruption.

This salvation is only offered by Jesus who has been made Lord and Saviour.  There is no other way to be made right with God.  Thankfully this salvation is freely offered to all who will put their faith in Jesus.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit has always been active in our world but after Jesus ascended into heaven he sent the Holy Spirit to be a Helper and a Comforter for all Christians.

The Spirit draws people to Jesus and empowers them for faith in him.  At the moment of conversion, he unites the believer to Jesus, applies the benefits of Jesus' death to them and comes to permanently dwell in them.

The Spirit empowers Christians for godly living and preserves them as they wait for the return of Jesus.

THE BIBLE

The Bible is the Word of God.  It was written by dozens of authors over hundreds of years but has a single divine author and a single message of salvation in Jesus.

The Bible is useful for teaching God's people how to live well in his world and how to rightly respond to him.

The Bible is the only place to reliably hear God speak and to learn about him.

The Bible, as originally given, is inerrant and infallible.

THE FUTURE

Jesus Christ will return from heaven to judge all mankind and to receive His people into a life of eternal joy in fellowship with God.

On that day all sin, suffering, pain and death will be completely destroyed and God will be glorified forever.

Our church is part of the wider Presbyterian Church of Victoria and Australia.
We subscribe to the Westminster Confession of Faith.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
— Romans 12:2
